Named after the Tamil word for “core” or essence, Karu (கரு) is a collection built around pieces that last. Every garment is considered more closely - how it’s made, how it feels, and how it endures over time.
The Approach
It begins with the fabric. Organic cotton offers softness, breathability, and a gentle, skin-friendly texture. Lyocell brings a smooth hand feel, fluid drape, and moisture-wicking capabilities. Suvin cotton, with its extra-long fibres and natural lustre, provides a finer, softer feel and airflow.
Designed to breathe in the heat and hold up over time, these fabrics maintain their impeccable shape and softness, wash after wash.
The silhouettes are defined by precision and purpose. Each cut is tailored to follow the body’s natural lines for a clean, intentional fit. We let the material dictate the form, focusing on refined proportions that respect the natural drape of the fabric.
The collection is built around a range of t-shirts, polos, trousers, and tanks - wardrobe staples for effortless daily wear.
Details
A consistent visual language runs through Karu. The Makara, the symbol of House of Agam, is placed at the chest, while a Kolam-inspired motif sits at the back. Together, they serve as quiet reminders of a story carried forward into the present.
Colour Story
The palette draws from the foundation of House of Agam’s visual identity - inspired by the landscapes, textiles, and architecture of South India.
Teal provides a grounding depth, reminiscent of the Southern coastline, while beiges and off-whites offer a calm, neutral tone. Terracotta adds an earthy hue, seen in temple stones and traditional craft, alongside a range of browns and muted greys. These shades are selected to complement one another and simplify the daily ritual of what to wear.
